We love them.
We feel sorry for them.
We think they will change.
We believe that they need us.
We are financially dependent on them.
The list goes on. . .
Here is an excerpt from "The Dance":
"Shane," Allison said calmly, "You told me that you have assaulted every woman you have ever been with. I can’t take you back now."
"Oh, please Allison, meet me tomorrow, just for coffee? We can talk." He whimpered, "I need you so much. I can't live without you."
"But Shane. . ."
"Allison! How can you turn your back on me?" He cried, "You said that you loved me, and I need you so bad! Please? I know you hate me, and I understand why you do, but please, let me see you! Just one more time, just for coffee?"
Sound familiar? The cycle of abuse is full of the words; "I'm so sorry."
